FiPL update

DEFRA has confirmed additional funding for the Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme in this current financial year (Year 3 - 2023/24), and have extended the Programme for a further year, until March 2025.

The funding programme is open to farmers and land managers (including from the private, public and charity sector) with land within the Shropshire Hills AONB. The grants are intended for projects with one or more of the following themes:

  • Climate – projects that help tackle climate change and mitigate flooding,
  • Nature - support biodiversity, wildlife and nature recovery,
  • People - provide new opportunities for people to discover, enjoy and understand (access, volunteering and learning about) the landscape and cultural heritage of the Shropshire Hills,
  • Place - support nature-friendly, sustainable farm businesses, conserve historical features and landscape character.

There is more good news!  We have a much larger grant pot available for Year 4, for projects to be completed between April 2024 and March 2025.

If you have a project in mind, and you have not already done so, please look at all the application guidance on our website here, https://www.shropshirehillsaonb.co.uk/help-to-look-after/farming-in-protected-landscapes, and complete the on-line enquiry form so that your interest is registered with us.  We will then get in touch with you to discuss your project idea further.
