Contract Shepherd Opportunity: Stiperstones

The Our Common Cause Project and Natural England are looking for a contractor to act as shepherd on the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve and report on the results.

In 2021 the contractor will record where the stock graze without shepherding, in 2022 they will shepherd the stock, encouraging them into the less grazed areas. They will also talk to the public about the importance of keeping dogs on leads around livestock.

YR 1 May-Oct 2021: Approx. 14 days (25 half day site visits), tenders in the region of £2,500 excVat.

YR 2 May-Oct 2022: Approx. 92 days shepherding, tenders in the region of £14,000 excVat.

Skills and Experience needed:

  • Competent & experienced stock handling (sheep)
  • Use of sit in or sit on ATV (quad bike) including a NPTC or LantraATV qualification (or willing to get one).
  • Talking to the public.
  • Recording and reporting on stock.
