The 'Free Trees Scheme' donated thousands of native trees grown from seeds and cuttings gathered locally. Native trees are important because the welfare of our wildlife is dependent upon the timing of flowering and fruiting. This fine balance can be upset if imported trees are planted. The project worked with schools and local people to collect and plant seeds to increase native tree numbers throughout the Shropshire Hills.
