Local Trees

Pruning Course

Since the project began, over 33,000 locally sourced native trees have been planed in the Shropshire Hills. These trees have been distributed to a range of landowners, community groups and schools. It helps to ensure the preservation of regional genetic diversity and has benefits from the good adaptation of local stock to an area’s climate and soils. It is these factors which are often overlooked in otherwise well planned planting schemes.

As well as donating free local trees the project also provides information and advice on trees and planting. Future work of the project aims to take the local sourcing message to commercial scale landscaping schemes.
