LEADER 2009-2013

LEADER in the Shropshire Hills was a £1.25 million, five year programme from 2009–2013 forming part of the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE), funded by the EU and Defra. It was delivered by the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership who took on the role of the LEADER Local Action Group. LEADER is a Europe-wide programme which aims to use local knowledge to promote an integrated bottom up, community led grant scheme. The overall aim of LEADER in the Shropshire Hills 2009-13 was

“To improve the quality of life in and around the Shropshire Hills,

building on a sense of place and attachment to the Shropshire Hills landscape.”
