Transition Board Meetings

From June 2016, the AONB Partnership’s Management Board was replaced by the Transition Board, linked to proposals for the AONB structure to become independent.

The purpose of the Transition Board is:
To support the detailed work of setting up an independent governance body for the Shropshire Hills AONB, while also taking on the existing responsibilities of the Management Board (which is replaced by the Transition Board). The Transition Board is intended to be replaced within two years (of its formation in June 2016) by the Board of the new independent organisation.

The Transition Board will report back to the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership (Joint Advisory Committee), and refer to the Partnership, to the two Councils and to Defra as necessary for decisions of strategic importance. It is however established in order to make operational level decisions regarding the formation of an independent body which go beyond the purposes for which the AONB Partnership itself was set up.

The AONB Partnership appointed the following members of the Transition Board:

James Williamson (Chair),  Individual member
Cllr Cecilia Motley (Vice Chair),  Shropshire Council
George Chancellor,  Individual member
Hilary Claytonsmith,  Town/Parish Council representative
Veronica Cossons,  Shropshire Wildlife Trust
Janine Hayter,  Parish/Town Council representative
Cllr Heather Kidd,  Shropshire Council
Cllr Chris Turley,  Telford & Wrekin Council
Cllr David Turner,  Shropshire Council

The Transition Board has co-opted the following additional members:

Andrew Wood,  Co-opted member
Neil Willcox,  Shropshire Council
