Date for your diary – a visit to a Calendar House

Friends of the Shropshire Hills AONB are invited to visit Bedstone College this Sunday 14 July for an exclusive tour of this splendid Victorian ‘Calendar House’.

Catherine Landles, Community Officer, explains “With a window for every day, 12 chimneys, 52 rooms and 7 entrances – a sign of good luck for all who enter, Bedstone College is one of only a handful of ‘calendar houses’ in the country.  Our guides include Mr John Hodges, author of “Bedstone Court – The Story of a Victorian Calendar House”, and the former Headmaster, Mr Michael Symonds. The visit will include a walk from the college in the morning (optional), a guided tour of the college and grounds and afternoon tea.”

This is a free event for members of Friends of the Shropshire Hills AONB and booking is essential. Annual individual membership is just £20 (family/joint £30) and this contribution goes entirely towards local community projects in the Shropshire Hills through the AONB’s Sustainable Development Fund.

The ‘Friends’ Scheme appeals to a wide range of people with a common interest in the Shropshire Hills, its wildlife, heritage, culture and well-being. Joining is easy, contact Catherine on 01588 674084 or see
