Guided Walk on the Wrekin

Join us on Sunday 8th July, 11.30am – 4pm, to explore The Wrekin, its wildlife, woodland, geology, history and cultural significance in the landscape.

This is the annual free event for members of Friends of the Shropshire Hills AONB.

Pete Lambert, Wrekin Forest Officer with Shropshire Wildlife Trust, will be our guide for the day. We’ll find out about this fascinating hill, including its geology and landscape setting, the pre-historic and cultural history of The Wrekin, including its hillfort, wildlife and history of the Wrekin Forest.

The walk starts at 11.30am from the Forest Glen car park. The walk is not long, but is strenuous and steep in places. Please bring a picnic for lunch on the summit, and if the Halfway House Tea Room (half way up the Wrekin) is open we’ll stop for afternoon tea. We will be back at the car park for 4pm.
