Shropshire Link Welcomes Walkers

Shropshire’s rural public transport service, ShropshireLink, is now taking group bookings.

After growing demand from local B&B owners to be able to book on behalf of their guests, the ShropshireLink bus service is now available for group bookings. The service will allow groups of walkers to get from town to countryside to the start of a walk whilst only needing one registered user. The bus, when available, can drop you off and collect you from the end of your walk allowing you to leave the car behind. This is ideal for linear walks in the Shropshire Hills.

ShropshireLink operates in 9 different zones throughout Shropshire, and users can book the bus between 24hrs-7days in advance to any location within a zone. The bus does not stick to set timetables or routes, meaning that users can book the bus to suit their journey.

Booking of the bus runs on a first come first served basis, so it is important to book as far in advance as possible.

The bus service is now taking group bookings to make it easier for accommodation providers and group organisers to reserve places using only one named user. This new initiative, to help promote sustainable travel for walkers, is supported by the Shropshire Hills AONB Walking with Offa project which has developed 12 new circular walks in the Shropshire Hills. All of these 12 walks are accessible by public transport, including zones 1 and 2 of the ShropshireLink. The codes for the ShropshireLink bus stops for the 12 Walking with Offa walks, to use when booking, are available on the individual walk leaflets.

For more information and to book the ShropshireLink, contact the Shropshire Council’s Customer Service Centre on 0345 678 9068.

The new Walking with Offa routes can be found on and look out for the printed leaflets in local visitor information centres soon.
